Merry Christmas! And a quick note...

Merry Christmas, all! I apologize, but I am unable to load my photos for the last two 25 Days of Christmas Beauty posts. (If you were wondering, I had photos of my tree to share and some vintage Santas.) I have had terrible Internet problems for a week now and just don't have any more time to devote to fixing the problem with Christmas nearly here. I hope Santa is good to everyone. I'll see you again after the first of the year. Best wishes for a beautiful 2010!

Day 23 of Christmas Beauty... Snowmen

It started with Frosty when I was a kid. My love affair with snowmen has continued and now I collect them - ceramic, stuffed, you name it. As these photos show, I'm not the only one, either. There's something about snowmen that just make me smile. I hope these make you smile, too.

Christmas greetings are still a tradition today, but I think it's fun to see how they used to exchange holiday greetings. Aren't these old cards pretty?

Day 20 of Christmas Beauty... Ornaments

All photos from Country Living

Ornaments are one of my many favorite things about Christmas. They're made for decorating the tree, of course, but most are so pretty they make great decorations on their own. They are an easy and quick way to add a little holiday beauty to your home.

Ah, the beauty of candlelight. There's something about being surrounded by lit candles that imposes magic any time, but this time of year candlelight seems even more beautiful. Don't you agree?

Hello, all. I hope you are all enjoying the holiday season so far. I have been having Internet woes at home for a few days now, which is making finishing this 25 Days of Christmas Beauty project harder than anticipated. I am having to snatch a few minutes here and there. I apologize if some days, like today, the posts aren't exactly early.
I hope you'll enjoy these different advent calendars, all pretty in their own way. Tomorrow, stop by for the beauty of candlelight and next week, you can look forward to Christmas angels, trees, Santa and more. I hope you are enjoying this little bit of Christmas Beauty each day. :)

Day 17 of Christmas Beauty... Bows

There's something about a Christmas bow. You can put one just about anywhere and suddenly, that little corner of the world is in the holiday spirit. It took me awhile to learn how to create beautiful bows, but it's a skill worth having. I love putting them on packages, too. You can wrap a gift in the plainest paper, but add a beautiful bow made of ribbon and suddenly it's gorgeous.

Day 16 of Christmas Beauty... Holiday dishes

Holiday dishes don't have to come with a tree or Santa on them. Red transferware, plain cream dishes, silver dishes - you can turn all of these into a perfect Christmas place setting with just a few inspired touches.

Day 15 of Christmas Beauty (and my 100th post!)... Simplicity

In honor of my 100th post, a reminder that beauty doesn't require a lot of money or glitz, just a little creativity and thought. So if you are stretched this holiday season for money or time or both, don't give up on spreading a little Christmas beauty. Sometimes the simplest decorations can be the most beautiful.

Day 14 of Christmas Beauty... Pretty packages

All photos from Martha Stewart

I'm just getting started wrapping gifts, so a little inspiration is in order. I know some people find wrapping presents to be a chore, but I personally enjoy it. Sometimes I prefer simple packaging, sometimes I spend a half-hour with ribbons and bows and other adornments. Mostly I just like to test my creativity. This year, I have not bought any new supplies, as we seem to have an abundance left from the last few years. I'm thinking a nice eclectic mix is going to be what I'm shooting for this year. Some paper wrapping, some pretty boxes with ribbons, maybe even a fabric wrapping or two. Whatever I use, I always make each gift look as appealing as I can - it adds more magic to the gift if the presentation is beautiful, too.
If you're looking for more inspiration, Martha Stewart has lots of great ideas. Happy wrapping.

Day 13 of Christmas Beauty... Gingerbread houses

I apologize for the late posting today, but I've been knee-deep in Christmas lights and tree decorating, etc., all weekend. I hope your weekend has been as productive as mine. Now that my house is in perfect holiday order, here's today helping of Christmas beauty: gingerbread houses. I have always loved these wonderful creations. They always look like such fun. If you're like me and need a little guidance, Martha has been showing folks how to create gingerbread houses like the one above in her Christmas workshop.
Simply Recipes also has a how-to, if you're interested in creating some serious holiday beauty in the kitchen. Enjoy.

Day 12 of Christmas Beauty... A pink Christmas for Pink Saturday

I am particularly loving Pink Saturdays right now because it gives me a reason to dig up more Christmas pink. Not that I ever really need an excuse for more pink, but one is always welcome nevertheless. :)
This week, Beverly asked us to share one of our favorite holiday decorations. Unfortunately, I am only just this weekend getting to my Christmas decorating, so I haven't been able to put my hands on my favorite decorations. But, the first photo comes pretty close. My favorite Christmas decorations are antique ornaments in those fabulous bright colors.
As always, thanks to Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for hosting this weekly tribute to pink. Please stop by her blog for a complete list of participants. Also, don't forget to check out the button on my sidebar for holiday giveaways. And Gwen at A Charming Home is doing a fabulous pink Christmas giveaway, too, so be sure to stop by for a visit.
Wishing everyone a pink and merry holiday season...
