Love note to Savannah...

Sorting through photos today, I came across the pictures I took when my husband and I visited Savannah, Georgia back in the spring. We had such a wonderful time wandering around the city seeing the sites, eating fabulous southern cooking, and admiring the beauty and homes unique to Savannah. It had been years since either of us had been to Savannah. When we feel the need for a wonderful old city we generally head to Charleston, which we both love. What surprised us was how much we enjoyed Savannah, so much so we decided if we had to pick a new city to live, it would top our list. We had always said Charleston would be our first choice, and it is divine, but Savannah feels more livable, not quite as full of itself, if you know what I mean.

We went to visit the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, often referred to as the Sistine Chapel of the South. It was beautiful, a true work of art. The only other time I have ever felt so moved by the beauty of a church was when we visited St. Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh, Scotland. As you can see, the Savannah cathedral lives up to its nickname.

Wandering around the city we found a few delights, including a restaurant whose name struck a familiar chord (my fabric and wallpaper designs are under The Pink Home for those who don’t know) and some unbelievable southern food.

We found our way to Jekyll Island as well, just off the coast. Another bit of southern beauty and a fitting end to our stay.
