The beauty of Scotland...

Oh, Scotland. You are breathtakingly beautiful. Every bit of you, from the Highlands to your vibrant cities to the glorious Isle of Skye.
My husband and I have returned from our Scottish vacation and we had an absolutely wonderful time. We flew in to Inverness from London. On our first full day in the country, we visited the Isle of Skye ~ a wild and wonderful place. The train ride down to Edinburgh from Inverness a couple days later was lovely (and inexpensive). The hillsides are green and covered in wild heather, there are beautiful streams and rivers and waterfalls everywhere ~ it’s a feast for the eyes.
And then there is Edinburgh, which is as vibrant and modern as it is old. We enjoyed the whole city, from Old Town to New Town, seeing all the typical sights ~ Edinburgh Castle, The Royal Mile, the Palace of Holyroodhouse ~ and more.
Inverness itself is a welcoming, charming little city, and a perfect base for exploring the Scottish Highlands, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We visited Culloden, a pivotal and sacred place in Scottish history, explored a very old working tartan mill, The Glenlivet distillery, Loch Ness, castles and so much more.
The Scottish people are wonderfully helpful and funny, the scenery is beautiful and the history is fascinating. Truly a country worth exploring. I hope you enjoy this brief glimpse.
