Just hanging around...


A friend of mine used to joke that she never knew who she was going to find on my front porch, but this guest was a surprise even to me. I had never seen a dragonfly up close until this one started buzzing around outside our front door. Luckily for me, he was kind enough to pause for photographs. They are beautiful and somewhat frightening creatures. I'm not much of a bug person, so seeing this one swooping and buzzing all over the place was startling at first. But then he quieted down and I could see how beautiful he was. It really is rather wonderful to find beauty in unexpected places (and creatures).
