The beauty of gardenias...

My gardenias have been blooming for a couple of weeks and they look and smell absolutely lovely. I cut a few to make a small arrangement for the dining room. They smelled so much like summer I decided I needed to change out my vignette on the sideboard for something more bright and suitable for the season.

I love this tray ~ it’s so vibrant and pretty. It just feels like summer to me.

Wishing all of you a lovely day...

Hydrangeas in bloom...

I love hydrangeas ~ their big fluffy blooms, the myriad of colors and the ease with which they grow. This hydrangea in the side yard can’t make up its mind which color it wants to be so it ranges from pink to blue, with plenty of lavender in between. I could add something to the soil to help it decide, but I quite like all the colors.

I love seeing blue and pink on the same plant.

The hydrangea I planted last year is doing well and producing gorgeous purple blooms. It is supposed to be pink but I haven’t bothered to add anything to the soil because the purple is so pretty.

I am still waiting for my limelight hydrangea to bloom. It is absolutely huge and looks to have many, many blooms. I’ll share some photos in the next few weeks.

Wishing all of you a lovely week...

Evening light & elephants...

I love this time of day, where the summer sun is still streaming in but the light has begun to soften. My new elephant sculpture is a wonderful addition to the room, don’t you think? I’ve decided to name him George.

Roses in the air...

A friend of mine gave me this fabulous trellis, which I decided would look beautiful with this climbing rose another friend gave me from her yard. Though you can’t see it in this photo, the rose is growing from the bottom and branching out along the trellis and the fence. I really should cut back the top of it but I love how the roses just seem to be floating in the air.

This rose is from one of the bushes along the side of the fence and it smells as beautiful as it looks. Right now, only our red roses are blooming, though we have planted a variety of colors. I am looking forward to seeing a few pink, white and peach blooms soon.

Wishing all of you a lovely day...
