Lightening up for spring...

With spring arriving in less than a month and warmer weather (and tulips) here already, I felt the need to brighten up things around here. I designed a new blog header, changed the background and type color and updated a few other things here and there. I hope you'll take a fresh look around and tell me what you think.
Also, be sure to enter my giveaway for some fabulous pink goodies. Click here for that.
Happy Sunday.

Pink loveliness (and a giveaway)...

It's been too long since I indulged in a lovely pink weekend. I feel as though life is swirling around me these days ~ so much to do and not enough time to do it. I could use some pink beauty to gaze at for serenity.
These are some of my new favorite images from Pinterest, which you can find on my Pink is the Color of Happiness board. I just love all the pink gorgeousness on display. You'll find the original sources at the bottom of this post.
I also noticed I am nearing 300 followers (wow!), so to celebrate I thought I would hold a little pink giveaway. The winner can select any 8x10 photograph or card set from my Signature Pink Collection or you can choose a yard of my Pink Medley or Pink by Nature fabric. All you have to do to enter is be a follower and leave me a comment; you don't even have to decide now which item you'd like. The giveaway will be open until I reach 300 followers (or for at least the next week).
Wishing all of you a lovely Pink Saturday...

Just hanging around...

A friend of mine used to joke that she never knew who she was going to find on my front porch, but this guest was a surprise even to me. I had never seen a dragonfly up close until this one started buzzing around outside our front door. Luckily for me, he was kind enough to pause for photographs. They are beautiful and somewhat frightening creatures. I'm not much of a bug person, so seeing this one swooping and buzzing all over the place was startling at first. But then he quieted down and I could see how beautiful he was. It really is rather wonderful to find beauty in unexpected places (and creatures).

I'll take romance...

Romance is a beautiful thing, particularly when you're romancing yourself with beautiful surroundings and lovely indulgences. I put together this treasury of some of my favorite Etsy items ~ it's a visual blueprint to a romantic day.
Happy Valentine's Day.

Lovely Sundays...

It's a lovely Sunday ~ the house is clean, the laundry is done and there are beautiful roses on my coffee table. I'm going to leaf through a couple of cookbooks and make something wonderful for dinner. That's after, of course, I've spent most of the day reading and napping. Bliss...
What are you up to this beautiful day?

The beauty of French tea...

The only thing better than getting a package in the mail is getting a surprise package in the mail from France. In this case, my fabulous brother sent me some fabulous Parisian tea. He said it was the best black tea he had ever had and so naturally he had to send some to his tea-loving sister. After drinking nearly half the box in record time, I have to concur. The tea is beyond delicious ~ strong and flavorful with just a hint of fruit. So good in fact, I was thinking I'm going to have to start importing my tea, but then I discovered I can buy it here.
Still, I may have to have it delivered from France once in awhile just for the romance of getting a package from Paris. Anyone else have any must-have teas?

For the love of books...

As I've mentioned, we're going to be moving back East later this year. It turns out I may be moving back sooner rather than later while my fiancé finishes up on this coast and joins me in the fall. All of that means we've started to think about packing and the best plan of attack for moving all of our stuff back East. And by our stuff I mean mostly my stuff.
One of the biggest things to be dealt with because of their weight are my books. I've been told by you-know-who that I have too many. My response is there's no such thing as too many books. I thought I'd snap some quick photos of my various stacks and see what you thought. To be fair, I should point out there's another large bookcase that isn't shown here (and a smaller one) full of books and there are, well, several (yeah, let's go with several) boxes of books already packed up. So, actually, this is just a fraction of what we're actually dealing with.
What do you think? Am I beyond hope?

Fabrics and other creations...

If it seems I haven't been around quite as much lately, it's because I've been busy creating fabrics and other goodies for The Pink Home (in addition to preparing to move, planning my redecorating tactics, etc.). Anyway, I thought those of you who don't follow my other blog might enjoy seeing some of my recent creations.
I've been concentrating mostly on fabrics and a few new note cards. I've been working on a couple of these fabric designs for quite a while, and have finally gotten them right and added to the shop. Starting with the top photo and working down, we have my fabric Floral Weaving in Tan, Slate and Strawberry, my Coral Medley fabric, Tea Cups & Roses note cards, Pink By Nature fabric, Lovely Lavender note cards, Pretty Purple fabric and a fat quarter bundle, Pink & Plum, which contains Pink Medley, Bright Leaves, Autumn Birds in Plum and Scrolling Through the Day in Lavender. I'm still working on lots of other goodies, too.
I've been asked whether I could turn Pink by Nature, in the photo directly below, into a stencil. It's an intriguing idea that I'm working on. If anyone has any tips to share on that front, they would be most welcome.
Since you've seen the latest beauty I'm hoping to add to the world, I'd love to hear what you have been busy creating.
Wishing all of you a lovely weekend, full of beauty...

The beauty of napkin rings...

Napkin rings are one of those often overlooked items that can easily add a little beauty to your table. I'm a firm believer in fabric napkins ~ you won't find any paper ones at my house ~ so napkin rings are one of my small joys. These daisy napkin rings were given to me awhile ago by a very good friend of mine.  She  has a knack for picking out things I love. They go wonderfully with the placemats, don't you think? Before the holidays, I used these placemats with another set of napkin rings a friend had given me ~ pretty little flowers with a splash of bright yellow. I thought the daisy rings would make a nice little change.
What do you think?
