Blooming...

The weather here, as in much of the country, has been strange this month to say the least. It has been ridiculously warm here, so much so that the plants are confused. The camellia bush, above, bloomed as it’s supposed to at this time of year. But one of my rose bushes, below, has bloomed again, which is very odd. The weather is chilly, then warm, then cold, then warm. The warming trend has been here for more than a week, giving us a 70-degree Christmas. The plants don’t know if it’s winter or spring. How is the weather where you live?

The holiday glow...

Christmas has gone but the holiday glow continues here. I keep all of my lights going through the new year ~ how about you? I saw my neighbors taking down their Christmas lights today and it made me wonder how many other people immediately take down all of their Christmas decorations.
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. Wishing you a lovely day...

Santa pillow...

My last project in sewing class was this Santa pillow. It turned out so cute, don’t you think? It’s the best thing I made, from a construction standpoint, though one of the Santas on the front somehow got turned around in the bow-tie. The pillow is now residing in our TV room with some other holiday pillows. I love how cute and cheerful it is.
Wishing all of you a lovely day...

From the inspiration files: Cozy warmth...

Couldn’t you just curl up in this room with a good book and a cup of tea and spend a heavenly afternoon? It’s such a wonderful space ~ so warm and cozy and inviting. I love how the room feels feminine but not overly so, like an old-fashioned drawing room, drawing you in to while away the hours.
What is inspiring you lately?

Kissing Christmas...

I fell in love with this kissing ball and brought it home to hang in the doorway to the dining room, over the chair. Typically the French door to this half of the doorway is closed, but I always open them both at Christmastime, so it seemed the perfect opportunity to take advantage of the hook that someone installed in the doorframe years ago.

The tree in the dining room is looking particularly pretty this yer, I think. I always use red when decorating the dining room for Christmas ~ and I love having the handmade train my grandmother made me under the tree. Growing up, my family always had trains under their Christmas trees; it’s nice to carry on the tradition.

Aglow with Christmas...

The house is aglow with Christmas. You can see I have two small trees in the living room ~ a pink tabletop one and a champagne one near the fireplace. You can even get a sneak peek at the dining room tree in one of the photos.

More photos to come. Wishing all of you a lovely day...
