Christmas decorating...

My Christmas decorating is pretty much finished, other than a couple minor things. Everything looks lovely and festive ~ I love all the soft light. Miss Emily seems to approve, too.
Here’s a quick look at the fireplace decorations. I’ll post photos of everything later.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

The Christmas decorating has begun. I still have a good bit to do, but the living room is done ~ here’s a sneak peek of my Pink Flamingo tree. There is something wonderfully ritualistic for me about decorating for the holidays. I love being surrounded by all the lights and beauty and good memories.

Happy Thanksgiving...

Happy Thanksgiving! Tilly is sporting her pilgrim outfit, as you can see. Doesn’t she look cute?
Since I always think of Thanksgiving as the last of autumn, even though winter doesn’t technically start for a few weeks, I thought I would share a few photos of the last bits of autumn beauty from my yard.

Miss Emily always enjoys checking out the yard and garden with me.

There is some beautiful color throughout the yard with the mums and roses still in bloom. The dahlias have put on quite a show for their first year, too.

Wishing all of you a lovely Thanksgiving holiday...

Unexpected beauty...

I love it when unexpected things create beauty. Usually a flower dying isn’t a pretty thing, but the way this particular rose dropped its petals was quite lovely.

It’s the little things...

There is something about a brand new box of crayons that thrills, isn’t there? I haven’t bought one in years and years, but I decided I wanted some crayons to use in my new coloring books. Popping open the box gave me as much of a thrill as it did when I was 5. It’s the little indulgences in life that matter.

The beauty of patchwork...

The patchwork pillow I created in sewing class is all finished and it turned out pretty cute. I made it from leftover samples of my fabric designs for The Pink Home. I just pulled together some pink and green pieces and sewed them together per the pattern we were given in class. This was a fun project because it gave us a chance to learn about decorative stitching, too.
I also created a collage I thought I would share of some of my favorite wallpaper designs for The Pink Home ~ I think the patchwork pillow put me in mind to gather them up.

The beauty of autumn candlelit afternoons...

“Autumn carries more gold in its pocket than all the other seasons.”
~Jim Bishop

Is there anything more wonderful than a chilly autumn afternoon where you have nowhere to be but home, indulging in a few simple pleasures like candlelight, a good book and a cup of tea?

An autumn update...

With autumn truly here and Christmas approaching, I thought I would update my blog just a bit. My trademark pink will return with the Christmas look, but for the month of November, I thought I would go a bit more autumn-like ~ or at least, my version of autumn ~ with a bit of purple and red in the header and accents. I hope you enjoy the updates.

November blooms...

My front garden is continuing to bloom even though it’s November, which is wonderful. I have some lovely dahlias and even a pink rose bush still blooming. I snipped these flowers yesterday to enjoy in the house. I should point out that the flower you see directly above, which had a friend in residence, I left outside. I snipped a dahlia from another bush to join my pretty pink rose.
And here is Miss Emily, peeking around the corner...
