A little evening candlelight & company...

A bit of candlelight always makes a cold evening seem warmer doesn’t it? I lit a few candles tonight while I was working on revamping the coffee table in the living room (more on the latest additions to my bookshelf later). While I was puttering about, Miss Emily decided to keep me company.

Or at least, that’s what it looked like she was doing. Then I realized she was really just snoozing. lol

Wishing all of you a lovely evening...

A bit of glamour...

I do love a bit of retro glamour and this room is positively swoon-worthy. I love the metallics, the textures, the soft colors ~ it’s all absolutely fabulous. I keep thinking that one day I shall live in a place where a bedroom such as this would be totally appropriate... hmmm, I wonder where and when that will be? In the meantime, I shall just keep dreaming.
Wishing all of you a day full of beauty...

Thoughts on tea...

There is something about a nice cup of tea that makes things better. Paired with a stack of books or magazines, or a creative task on a cold winter day, it’s even better. Judging from these posters I found on Pinterest, I am not the only person to feel this way.
Wishing all of you a lovely cup of tea and a peaceful few minutes...

It’s Downton day...

Finally, after months of waiting, the latest series of Downton Abbey premieres tonight here in the States on PBS. I absolutely can’t wait to get caught up in the Crawleys again for a couple of months. I was lucky enough to have Santa bring me the two latest Downton Abbey books for Christmas and I have been pouring through them ever since.

I already had the first two books covering seasons 1-3 and enjoyed them immensely. Each is different and much more than a recap of the previous season. They are all readily available from Amazon and various bookstores. If you love the show and are interested in that time period, I highly recommend them.

So, will you be watching?

Beauty & history from abroad...

One of my very dear friends spent a little over a week in Scotland recently and absolutely fell in love with the country. I saw her yesterday and she brought me this beautiful scarf. Every bit of it is Scottish, from the wool to its creation. My friend said she wanted to be sure to bring me something that was 100 percent Scottish; Johnstons of Elgin is the only mill in Scotland “able to manufacture from fleece to finished product” and is located on the same site on which the business started more than 200 years ago. I love that she brought me something so beautiful and so perfectly Scottish ~ such a kind and thoughtful gift. And the way the weather has turned, the timing of its arrival is perfect.
Wishing all of you a wonderful weekend...

Welcoming a new year...

Another year has dawned, another chance to look ahead, make plans and dream. A beautiful new year, fresh with possibilities, always makes me smile. I hope all of you enjoy a wonderful start to 2015.
Just a note about the photo ~ since I always think of tulips as a flower of renewal, I pulled a favorite of one of my photographs that I took for The Pink Home, when I was creating floral note cards. Pouring through some of my old photographs reminded me how much I enjoyed doing that ~ maybe I'll start making cards again for fun. Hmm... in fact, maybe I'll leave the resolutions behind and just make a list of fun things to do this year.
Wishing all of you a lovely new year...
