Addicted to Downton...

Like many people on this side of the pond, I am very much looking forward to the return of Downton Abbey after the first of the year (along with Sherlock, I might add, but that’s another post). I simply can’t wait to see what happens and to be pulled into that world again.
Of course, everyone associated with the program knows that so they are doing their best to capture some of the Downton spirit in merchandise. You can now buy Downtown Abbey wine from France, or if tea is more your thing, PBS now sells Downton Abbey tea. Silly though it may seem, I must admit I am tempted to try all of them.
And of course there is the latest book ~ the third about the show ~ that is now available. I have the first two and will probably have to pick up this latest one. I just realized that I never got around to buying the third season on DVD, so I must rectify that soon. After all, I can’t have a Downton marathon before the new series airs without the last one. This whole Downton addiction is getting to be expensive.

A new favorite find...

A dear friend of mine sent me this card and I loved it so much I had to check out the artist’s other work. I went to her Etsy shop and fell in love with her art prints and cards ~ so much so, in fact, that I thought I would share. Halthegal’s shop is full of whimsy and wit perfectly suited for a gift to yourself or a friend. Click here to check it out.

A little post-Christmas indulgence...

Curling up with a cup of hot cocoa (with a candy cane for a stirrer, of course) and leafing through some new or favorite books for inspiration is my idea of a lovely afternoon. One of the best things about the holiday season, I think, are the days between Christmas and New Year’s. Things have quieted down and you can settle in and rest and recharge while still enjoying all the loveliness of the season.
Wishing all of you a beautiful day...

Fun and cute Christmas patterns...

It’s wonderful to be inspired by the holidays.
As I mentioned last week, I just adore snowmen. Out of that love came this pattern, Winter Buddies, which I created for The Pink Home. Winter Buddies is now available through Spoonflower in gift wrap, fabric and wallpaper, should you so desire, but I think the gift wrap is the best use of it. Isn’t it cute?

I designed these next two patterns earlier this month. I’ve tentatively named the top one Pink Christmas and the one at the bottom Snowflakes. They will make wonderful holiday gift wrap, too, don’t you think?
I am spending the afternoon wrapping presents, so I guess I have gift wrap on the brain. Wishing all of you a lovely day...

The beauty of a warm December day...

The paperwhites we planted this fall are in bloom, just in time for Christmas. It’s so lovely to see something blooming in the yard in December. It’s an incredibly warm and mild day where I live today ~ it’s just beautiful. I took advantage of the warm weather to snap a few photos to share. Emily had to tag along, too.
Wishing all of you a lovely Saturday...

The Pink Flamingo tree...

Many of you have seen from a distance the little champagne-colored tree that sits next to the fireplace in my living room. What most of you don’t know is this my Pink Flamingo Tree.
One of my best friends started giving me and another friend pink flamingo ornaments a few years ago as sort of an inside joke. She keeps an eye out all year to find them ~ they’re not exactly easy to come across ~ and each one is simply fabulous. I decided last year when I bought this little tree that it would serve as their home and the two seem quite perfect for each other. I just love it.

Snowmen love...

Who can resist adorable snowmen? I certainly can’t. They are one of my favorite things to decorate with at the holidays. I used to have a much larger collection but I whittled it down to just these a couple of years ago so I could sort of restart, I guess. I am always on the lookout for more because I just love how sweet they are. Those faces and their little knit caps and scarves ~ too, too cute.

Poinsettias and pine cones...

Poinsettias and pine cones are two of my favorite things to decorate with during the holidays. I love their simple, natural beauty. Red poinsettias suit most of the house and the porch, but I like to keep the color palette in the living room soft and pink, so I usually choose pink and cream poinsettias for that room. This year I only needed one pink poinsettia and luckily I found a beauty that fit perfectly in my cream holder.
As I said, red rules in the dining room and other rooms, but I did tie a lovely blue ribbon around one of the poinsettias, as you can see. It just seemed to suit with the blue walls. I threw a few red accents in with my basket of pine cones on the dining room table, too, as you can see. I love a little natural beauty at the holidays to help balance out the lights and such.
I hope all of you are enjoying a lovely week...

O Christmas tree...

“The perfect Christmas tree? All Christmas trees are perfect!”
~ Charles N. Barnard

I couldn’t agree more. No matter how big or small they are, whether fancily decorated or adorned with old family ornaments that become heirlooms over time, all Christmas trees are beautiful and perfect.
