The beauty of seasonal living...

The beauty of seasonal living is our topic for the month here at The Art of Living Beautifully. And in my opinion, flowers are one of the loveliest things about the changing seasons ~ Mother Nature is always producing something unique and beautiful. We are still seeing bunches of tulips where I live, so I’m continuing to enjoy their spring beauty. It won’t be long before they’ll be gone for another year.
I have made a few more seasonal adjustments at home, like switching out the books on this little table in the living room. Summers in France is a wonderful book, full of gorgeous photographs and ideas on hosting houseguests. The French seem to do seasonal living better than anyone. Diets and activities and homes change easily with the seasons. Embracing the glories of each season is just a way of life there.
Spring here means tulips and daffodils, warm days, crisp evenings and too much rain. We start eating less soup and casseroles and more fruit and light dishes. The nap blankets around the house change from warm and fuzzy to light and cool. Winter bedding is put away and warm-weather bedding is pulled out ~ with an extra blanket still on the bed for those cool spring nights. Seasonal flowers fill vases, and doors and windows stand open.
I would be interested to hear about some of the changes you make with the seasons. Do you try to live a seasonal lifestyle in any way?
Wishing all of you a lovely week...

  1. Beautiful tulips! Yes, I do try to live seasonally. I have always been a believer in eating local, seasonal food. That is why I started my other blog, From Harvest To Table. We spend a lot of time outside on the porch in the summer, and I am in the process of sprucing that up.

    Lovely post.

  2. I like the colour of the tulips, and the vase they're in.
I make seasonal changes with the decor and switch to lighter coloured tablecloths for use.
When our famers' market opens I buy produce there that I don't grow in our small veggie garden.

  3. Your flowers are beautiful. We just added lilacs to the mix we can bring into the house. They add fragrance as well as beauty. I hope your week is off to a great start. Blessings...Mary

  4. I never really thought about it - but I guess we do change the throws, and I tend to open the curtains wider to let in more sunlight.

Now I think that I'll see more as the days grow longer and warmer!

  5. Nothing more lovely than tulips in the spring. I can't grow them down here in Florida, but I buy them and remember Michigan springs!

  7. I love opening the doors to get a cross breeze and to listen to the happy songs of the birds; to walk in my garden is thoroughly enjoyable and even to clean rooms in the house - springtime is so reviving! I do appreciate you sharing with A Return to Loveliness,
    Kathy
