When seasons blend together...

After the holiday clearing was done and all the decorations were stowed away for another year, I gave the house a good cleaning and then set about putting it in winter~to~spring mode. I know it's still winter for another couple of months, but there's something about clearing away all the holiday decor that makes me think spring is right around the corner. My illusion (for I write this as temperatures continue to drop while we await a winter storm) is assisted by flowers ~ tulips and lilies and hyacinth are in all the stores. I don't know about you, but it's impossible for me to look at tulips and not think spring.
Which leads me to the winter~to~spring mode going on in my house. For now it's really more of a seasonal blend than a true hand-off, if you know what I mean. I still have lovely pink and white poinsettias that I don't want to get rid of so they're keeping company in my living room with a vase full of tulips and lilies, as you can see below. All lovely and light, no matter which season they convey.
Wishing all of you a beautiful weekend...

  1. Nicely put Eileen, I hadn't thought about the blending of the seasons but believe I do the same. The pink drapes add a pretty hue to your room.

  3. Your living room is exquisite! I would love to sit there and have a cup of tea with you!

When I take down Christmas in early January, I go right to spring. As you know, I'm not a winter gal, so I have to rush the season in whatever way I can!

    Blessings,

  5. I so agree - even though we still have at least 6 weeks of winter and snow is on the ground, I feel like spring is so near and I look for signs of it everywhere. You pink tulips are just beautiful.

  11. I had the same tulips last week! They didn't last though because the heating was on full mode due to low temperatures! I love your curtains and the way they play with the light!

  17. Tulips say "spring" to me as well and yours are a wonderful, soft colour. Thank you for sharing them and your thoughts about transitioning seasons at Sunlit Sunday.
