Goodbye, sweet friend...

Yesterday I had to say goodbye to my sweet Russ. I rescued him from the pound when he was 9 months old; he lived to be nearly 15 1/2. In all those years, I'm sure I learned more from him than he did from me. Russ was smart, loyal, mellow, funny and my self-appointed protector from pretty much the moment we met. Many people over the years have commented that he was an old soul and I believe that to be true. He was a special and unique dog and I am honored that he chose me to be his person. I hope heaven appreciates him as much as we did.

  2. Oh my goodness, I'm soo sad to hear this, as it reminds me of our pug Ben, who died two years ago at 13. He was all you described your baby were; he even was self appointed the soul owner of our house! I miss him still and my heart goes out to you, my friend.

  5. Oh, Eileen, I'm so sorry!! I know your heart must be hurting so much, for our precious doggies aren't just pets, they become family members to us.

This post really hits home for me, as one of my beagles is 14 1/2, and for the last couple years, I've seen her declining and have known her time with us is nearing its end.

    Blessings and hugs,
    Patti

  8. Eileen, I am so sorry and sad to hear that you lost your little guy. Sometimes it just doesn't seem fair that we can't have them just a little while longer. I have a sweet cat that is 19 1/2 years old. It's hard for him to get around and he sleeps almost 22 hours a day. I know that his time is short bur we never know when that time will come. It is not easy watching them age. I feel for you and I am tearing up thinking about your loss. Bless you and Russ.
