For the love of books...

As I've mentioned, we're going to be moving back East later this year. It turns out I may be moving back sooner rather than later while my fiancé finishes up on this coast and joins me in the fall. All of that means we've started to think about packing and the best plan of attack for moving all of our stuff back East. And by our stuff I mean mostly my stuff.
One of the biggest things to be dealt with because of their weight are my books. I've been told by you-know-who that I have too many. My response is there's no such thing as too many books. I thought I'd snap some quick photos of my various stacks and see what you thought. To be fair, I should point out there's another large bookcase that isn't shown here (and a smaller one) full of books and there are, well, several (yeah, let's go with several) boxes of books already packed up. So, actually, this is just a fraction of what we're actually dealing with.
What do you think? Am I beyond hope?

  1. I understand completely. We've made four major moves during our marriage. Each of them have been completely paid for by the hospital that my husband was joining. Of course, our books have gone with us from coast to coast. Our next move will be at our expense and, although not on the horizon yet, I've already started thinking of book purging. So far, I've only thought about it--not doing it. Good luck!

    Best,
    Bonnie

  2. I have tons of books too but not as many as you, I don't think.

I can't even begin to imagine hauling them all but.. I'm sure that you'll figure something out. :)

  3. Even though I love to read, I don't own too many books really. Especially compared to most readers. I just buy my absolute favorites and utilize paperbackswap.com. In the past, I just used the library. If I had bought every book I've read, I'd have a lot though! :-)

  4. I am with you here, I have two bookcases completely full of books and two large totes completely full of books. I cant even move the totes they are way too heavy. We are moving next weekend and I need more totes to fit all of my books.

  7. Oh my gosh, first I need to learn to TYPE! Sorry for my deleted comment.. Now for being beyond hope? I certainly don't think so. I have the wall of an entire hallway, from one end to the other, lined with books, and books, and more books! I love my own little library! I'm sorry, but I just don't see HOW you can replace something like THAT with some little palm-sized gadget! Nope, I love my books, and I'm keepin' em! Hope you can too!.. Have a great weekend! ~tina

  9. I agree, you can never have too many books. Until it's time to move because a box full of books is heavier than all get out. lol Good luck with the move!
