Pink tulips for Pink Saturday...

It's raining tulips at my house ~ how lucky am I? For the second time in the last three weeks, my sweetie brought me tulips. The first bunch, which you can see here, he brought to cheer me while I was sick. These he brought me just because ~ my favorite reason of all. Sigh...

I am linking to Beverly's Pink Saturday at How Sweet the Sound. Stop by to indulge in more lovely pinks.

Sunshine in a bowl...

"Wherever you go, no matter what the weather,
always bring your own sunshine."
~ Anthony J. D'Angelo

Beauty can be found in the simplest things, like a pile of lemons in a brightly colored bowl in my kitchen. The colors are so cheerful and happy ~ like sunshine in a bowl.
Wishing all of you a sunny Friday...

The beauty of white...

Sometimes there is nothing quite as soothing to me as seeing the different textures and shades of white. I think of it as one of the few year-round colors, perfect for any season with the right accents. These photos from Country Living show how soothing and sophisticated a white palette can be when done correctly (for tips and ideas on decorating with white, click here). Oatmeal and winter white shades pair perfectly in the fall and winter, while pastels are a perfect accompaniment in the warmer months. And of course there are always the classic blue and white and red and white pairings. Do you have a favorite way to use white in your home?

A welcome (and beautiful) respite...

It's been quite the week. And I don't mean that in a good way ~ hence the lack of posts, visiting you lovely ladies or anything else. And that was on top of the previous week of my being sick, so, really, I've quite had my fill of yuckiness (is that a real word?) for the month.
One of the bright spots in the gloom were these gorgeous tulips my love brought me when I was sick. They lasted for quite a while; it was lovely to come home each day and see them open a bit more. Monday afternoon, I lucked upon the most beautiful light and snapped them at their prettiest. In the midst of all the craziness around me, their beauty was a welcome respite.
Wishing everyone (including me) a peaceful and delightful week...

Simple (and beautiful) jewelry storage...

I just love, love, love the simplicity of this idea from Country Living for storing and showcasing jewelry. They took a piece of particle board, gift wrapped it and stuck it into a fabulous frame. Add some beautiful push pins for necklaces and bracelets to hang from and poof! ~ instant jewelry display. I love the idea of storing bangles in beautiful containers, too. It's a brilliant way to bring your jewelry out of the dark of your jewelry box and tempt you to wear more pieces more often. Plus, it's a great way to add beauty to your home using items you already have and love.

Scents of the season... Winter

Fragrance is a simple pleasure and part of creating a beautiful home ~ after all, beauty should delight more than just the eyes. Each season brings with it its own olfactory wonders. My favorite winter scents are peppermint, balsam/cedar and cookies baking. There's something about peppermint that smells like winter to me ~ fresh, clean, cool. I like the balsam/cedar scent especially around Christmas, when the tree is up. And the scent of cookies baking ~ either real or from a candle ~ seems to warm the house during winter. Mmmm...
What are your favorite winter scents?

Furry First Friday...

It's the first Friday of the month, so it's time to share those lovely pet pictures. This month I'm sharing photos of Emily, my little Shih Tzu, taken earlier this week. Is she not the cutest thing sleeping with all of her furry friends? It's almost hard to tell which is which. Next month I'll have photos of my Russ and Nick.
Furry First Friday is hosted monthly by moi. All you need to do to join in is post photos of your pets and add your link to the bottom of my post. If you have any problems linking, leave your link in the comments and I'll link it up for you.
Since Emily is decked out in her pink sweater and asleep on her pink bed, I am also linking to Pink Saturday at How Sweet the Sound. Wishing all of you a cuddly weekend filled with beauty...

Snapshots of beauty for sharing...

While on my lovely, lengthy winter holiday break, I set up a new photo blog on tumblr called "All things beautiful...". I thought I'd share my original photos for others to reblog, if desired. A lot of the photos are ones I have taken for this blog, others are ones published in Belle Inspiration, a magazine I freelance for. Some will be just random photos that I like. It's really just a photo sharing site; I'll only publish photos on there that I took. Feel free to drop by for random snapshots of beauty from nature and around the home or to peruse the collection for an image you might want for your personal use. I'll be adding photographs regularly. You can page through the blog or (and I think this is easier), if you click on archives, you can see thumbnails for each month. Hope you enjoy.

NOTE: I have since taken down this tumblr blog. If there are photos on my blog you want to borrow for personal use, please ask and I'll very likely say yes.

Living rooms to love...

I was perusing the Internet and stumbled across these gorgeous living rooms in Country Living. I love all of these different looks, from the French Country to the Victorian influence to the Shabby Chic/cottage look. There's even some fab pink. In a couple of years, I'll be moving back to my home on the East Coast, at which time we'll begin our redecorating/renovations, so I'm starting to collect ideas now.
Decisions, decisions...
