Simple Pleasures... Candles at dusk

I love candles ~ the ambiance they provide, the wonderful scents they impart. If I'm going to be home for the day, I'll burn scented jar candles and votives, usually according to season: Spices in the fall, Christmas scents and peppermint around the holidays and during the winter, florals and fruits in the spring and summer. But one of my favorite indulgences is to light candles at dusk and leave off all the other lights for the evening. I did that this past weekend and it was wonderful; the house felt even more warm and welcoming. Everything looks more beautiful by candlelight ~ a simple pleasure indeed.

  1. How pretty. I love candles too. I tend to light them more outside than inside though. I need to start lighting more candles!

  12. I like to do the same thing. Our house is a tri-level, and our TV room is on the bottom floor. That is where we spend our evenings, so I turn all the lights out on the middle floor (street level) and just light a couple candles. (Yes, I leave them burning unattended.) That way, when I go upstairs for anything (drink, snack, walk dogs out), it's not pitch black...and I get to enjoy the flickering light for a time.

Hope your day is abundantly blessed.

    Hugs,
    Patti
