Pink Saturday... Save the Pink Bathrooms!

Happy Pink Saturday, all! Today's post actually comes to you thanks to my dear friend, Julia, who stumbled across this most fabulous Web site in her search for authentic vintage fittings. Naturally, she had to pass it on to me.
There is an important movement afoot - one all lovers of pink should be aware of. Yes, ladies, a piece of our history here in the States is slowly but surely being destroyed: Pink bathrooms. Who knew?
Now, I'm sure there are some out there who would say good riddance to pink subway tile and tubs and toilets. But, once you visit this site – Save the Pink Bathrooms – and see how much history and character is being sledgehammered in the name of modernization, you might change your tune. If nothing else, check out the 10 facts about pink bathrooms section - it's quite interesting.
Just after seeing this Web site, my sweetie showed me pictures of the work our new neighbors are doing on their house. Lo and behold - they have a pink bathroom! I asked him if he knew if they were keeping it or ripping it out, and he didn't. I fear they might be, as they seem to be pretty much completely renovating, adding-on, etc. I then launched into 10 minutes about the Save the Pink Bathrooms movement and I can only say my man is grateful we do not have a vintage pink bathroom. Because much to his chagrin, I would totally keep it.
Is anyone out there lucky enough to have one of these pink beauties in their home? I'd love to hear about it if you do. Unless you ripped it out, of course. If that's the case, just lie to me. :)
As always, thanks to Beverly for hosting this lovely weekly event. Be sure to stop by How Sweet the Sound for a complete list of participating blogs.
Wishing everyone a weekend surrounded by beauty...

Oh sweetie aren't this pink bathrooms just delightful? I can remember seeing them in the days gone by. They were so popular. I had a friend who had a pink everything and it was trimmed off with a black tile trim. So beautiful.

Thank you for sharing this link. I will have to explore it a little further. Have a beautiful Pink Saturday sweetie. Country hugs...Sherry

  5. Happy Pink Saturday!

I've never seen a pink bathroom in person....only on blogs that declared them hideous and then how they ripped it out. I think it's unique...something different. Nowadays it seems like everyone's houses just look the same.

  7. Interesting this pink bathroom doesn't have the weird ugly tinge that I have normally seen in these old rooms. Looks like someone has really cared for their bathroom, thus the reason there is no desire to tear it out.

  10. This bathroom is a lovely rose tint, pure pink. So many I've seen are brownish, and I wouldn't want to save them! We had a lemon one in our last place - a nice colour on a sunny day, more towards primrose. But on a dull day - nasty, sharp ... and impossible to accessorise. White made it look dirty, cream made it look muddy.

A pink bathroom - well, you can't go wrong, really! Lovely, feminine... a lady's bathroom, and not for sharing, so even more worth preserving as we could all do with one of our very own.

    Happy Pink Saturday!

  18. Hi Bella! You asked where I got the picture with the Audrey Hepburn quote about pink. The answer is, I can't remember! But, if you want to send me your email address (I can't seem to get through via your blog), I'll be happy to send the picture as an attachment.

  19. Thanks for visiting my pink sat. post. I love pink bathrooms. I remember seeing them when I was a kid. I would love to redo my bathroom pink, but since I have to share with my hubby and three sons, I think I the idea will be rejected.

  20. Oh my goodness, that pink bathroom is gorgeous!! It's a shame so many people think only new things are worth anything - once they are gone, they are really gone. I recently was at a woman's house that had a pretty soft AQUA sink - it was lovely against the cocoa colored counter, but she was anxious to have it ripped out! And she had just recently taken out the aqua commode that matched the sink - oh my, it hurts me to think of it...

A long time ago I lived in a house that had a soft sage green tub, sink and commode - I really loved it...
